Lethe

Lethe

Webs and insect wings
volcanic ash forged into edges
lintels. Earth surrendered by ragged nails.
Lace binding albums of monochrome
shots as corners warp.
Saturday afternoon shying behind huckleberry leaves
bicycle tires restless, twitching.
Pages catch shade, bird song
in crumpled light.

Corners fall first. Tatters
dropped long before.
Outside-in, devouring
whittling content.

Like starlings snatching weight from the room.
