Comment Fic Prompt - Original

Author: ciaranbochna
Characters: Original
Length: 134 words
Disclaimer: The prompt was supposed to be three sentences, so I failed completely there.

Warnings: Discussions of grief
A/N: A prompt from  comment_fic   Author’s choice, author’s choice, the women in the two black veils didn’t bother to cry

They are not twins, nor sisters, but they are always seen together.

They are the guests no one remembers inviting. Lingering in corners whispering to each other, waiting until the circle around you breaks.   Their words have no form, no language you can understand.  But you breathe easier a moment to share silence with the figures in black.

The women have no faces you can see. Their veils never move, even in the fiercest wind.

They are peripheral, rooted grief.  An ache that hovers in your vision.  Company you cannot deny.

Their veils are woven of the world’s sorrow. They are the family no one seeks, but they will never fail to attend.
