Summary: "The shadowed outline of two figures appeared in the circle..."

Through the mist stones were barely visible. Voices whispered through them, spinning echoes beyond.

The shadowed outline of two figures appeared in the circle, one dressed in a three-piece suit, and a suggestion of darkness where eyes should be. There was an infinitesimal glow in the depths of those sockets.

The other figure had a man’s shape, but no detail or features to speak of—it had never been human.

“Did we really need to meet in so passé a location?” The figure in the suit asked.

“I will have you know I have cherished memories of this spot. I almost had them poised to invade Europe, until the damn Romans beat them to it.”

“You should learn to let things go. You don’t see me reminiscing about past exploits do you?” Something at the end of the suit’s arm cut through the mist.

“The other figure scoffed. “And you still have the sword then, do you? Oh yes, you are above everything.”

“Fine. Should we admit we are both far too attached to the world? We still meet after all. So tell me, how is your wizard then? Obviously not a spectre yet.”

“The boy still manages, most of the time. There are rather more flashes of genius than stupidity at least.”

The sword swished through the fog as the other man replied. “Stupidity is not the problem with mine, unless you refer to human emotional interaction, then yes. He may have someone to help him now though. I did pick the man especially for his compassion.”

“Ahh, the doctor home from the wars. Wars--I wouldn’t mind a battle. The wizard does tend to rub most people the wrong way. I admire that about him. Doesn’t compromise his white-knight syndrome.”

“But your confinement, needing permission to leave. I cannot imagine…”

“You bring that up every time we meet. At least I have a few nights a year--Solstice, All Hallows Eve, Equinoxes, the points when the veil thins. Your detective won’t even listen to you; at least I can talk to the wizard.”

Sounds of screaming and crashing metal permeate the fog. The figure in the suit doesn’t answer.

“Now who is dreaming of battle. You are affecting the echoes of time again.”

“So I am. I have tried to speak to Sherlock, but for a genius he has blocks against the arcane. Even after the episode with the Endless.”

“Oh do tell, it isn’t often they deign to interfere with a mortal. Even Harry hasn’t run into them yet. Though there are enough problems with the fey and biblical camps.” The figure flickered for a moment. “If that boy only knew what lay ahead. He thinks the scars are behind him—bah!! Tell me of your detective.”

“He is more of a ‘consulting detective; or so he fancies. Sounds as though you are rather fond of your wizard, Bob”

“Don’t call me that. Insulting name. If I could tell Harry my proper name—well, one of them—but he wouldn’t survive it.”

“Let me distract you with a few of Sherlock’s latest cases. I suspect you will relate to Moriarty.”

“Promising name. If I were free you and I could enjoy the world so much more."

“Of course we could. But the bindings on our skulls cannot be released by anyone living in this age. They sunk the island to confine us back then. At least in this dimension. The others…”

“Yes yes. And I am still working on Harry. If he lives long enough to become Merlin we may have a chance.”

“What could the spirit of intellect and the incarnation of destruction do with their time? It bears pondering. For now I have a mantle to grace.”

“So Sherlock still believes you were his friend then?”

The sword was thrown into the mist, where it vanished, cutting off the screams and battle-noise with it.

“Of course. Never let it be said Destruction is heavy-handed. I can be subtle when it suits me. Warping memories and personality is still a form of unraveling. And you can appear human when it suits you.”

“True. Although I have slipped once or twice. I threw in  the addiction to romance novels in to lull Harry into complacence. It seems to have worked.”

“Good. Now tell me about Sherlock, we only have until dawn."  Bob crossed his arms

"Very well.  But next time no gathering at Stonehenge, too cliché."

“Fine. Your choice on the Equinox. Just not Easter Island please. I have had enough of that joke.”

The suit laughed, fires in its eyes glowing. “I am sure. But the heads are rather attractive explosive devices. I keep hoping some archaeologist will find the trigger…”

Bob’s shape sighed.

Destruction shrugged “Oh, very well. So the story actually begins with a boy named Carl...”

Oh, jeebus. Dresden Files and Sherlock. The potential awesomeness could make a fan explode. O.o There needs to be more. Especially since matching Bob the Skull and Sherlock's skull together is interesting.

Well. If some cursing bothers you, don't read the following. Actually, iT may involve a lot of cursing. It involves several expletives.

HOLY SHIT OH MY FUCKING GOD MERE WORDS CANNOT DESCRIBE THE WIN THAT IS THIS FANFIC. O______O DRESDEN FILES IS ONE OF MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE SERIES OF BOOKS, EVER. THE FACT YOU JUST CROSSED IT OVER WITH SHERLOCK IS GOOD ENOUGH REASON FOR ME TO PROPOSE TO YOU. I GIVE THE INTERNET AS A COURTING GIFT. OH MY FUCKING GOD. WOULD YOU LIKE A COOKIE? HERE'S A COOKIE. HERE'S A COOKIE JAR IN THE SHAPE OF A TARDIS, YOU CAN FIT MORE IN IT. OH MY GOD. THIS FIC JUST MADE MY WEEK

(Errrr, I'm not this creepy normally, I swear. I just got really excited when I saw this fic, and moreso when I saw the quality of it. XP)

Oh my..lol Well, thank you, I don't believe I have ever had such a reaction before:) Dresden Files is indeed one of the greatest series ever created. Harry is my favourite fictional character next to Sherlock in fact, so I just had to mix the worlds a little;)

Ooo Tardis cookie jar, I shall put it beside my Dalek;)

I seem to keep missing things! This is SO COOL! I know very little about Dresden Files except that the skull exists and this crossover in skull space is full of nifty!

Mia ha ha ha
Every time I offer to be someone's skull for thinking out a plot, I ALWAYS think of Bob... Thanks for this.
Jenn, who has a son named Harry who wants to be a wizard and acts like Sherlock, seriously, down to the bees...
