There is only the light of the torch. Cushions from all the chairs and sofas in the room folded around him. Grey wool blankets stifle any light above. He has books, his mind. Outside--hushed. The fracture can’t penetrate the walls, and he doesn’t have to remember why he built them. The foundations are solid, and no one will come. He won't see.

Quiet.

            Still.

                                    Lost.

                                                Found.

strangely comforting, even though slightly claustrophobic....nicely done :)

Thanks. I suppose it is a little disturbing that claustrophobia is comforting, but it's true.
