He can feel the rime of ice under his nails, blurring his vision as the frost creeps over his lashes. Loki closes his eyes, raises the temperature just enough that nothing obscures his sight. After all, with vistas like this, he should feel privileged.

Loki sneers, feeling the skin crack above his lip. He watches drops of blood spin away from him -  tiny cabochons in the void. He never really appreciated the space between stars before, but now, thanks to Thor, Loki has nothing but time to catalogue every little nuance.

His brother destroyed the Bifrost before Loki could finish his work, and Thor severed his ties to Jane Foster in the process. Loki knows humans are just as much an aberration as frost giants; he has no idea why Thor would cherish a human being, or protect an entire world of monsters in Jotunheim.

Loki remembers the sound of shattering, cries of pain, the agonizing breaking of a world. For a moment, he is tempted to breathe, but represses it. It wouldn’t do out here amongst the waste of stars. He hopes the damage to Jotunheim is permanent, and that father will not interfere to repair what Loki began. There is no way to know what Odin will do, now.

The frost giants are hideous creatures that need to be eradicated. He is finishing father—Odin’s work. Why Odin or Thor couldn’t see it was beyond him. None of them understands anything he does, and it hardly matters now. Sentiment is beyond him. He needs to search for a new place to begin.

Loki stretches his thoughts, sensing a push from just – there! It seems he is not alone, and something acknowledges his presence, telling him to wait. Loki has always been patient.

He remembers the feel of Thor’s hand, fingers desperately grasping at Loki’s. Thor’s skin was always too hot, as if he had a fever. Loki used to tell Thor he was made for war, that it was his blood that drove his temper. It  had always made Thor laugh.

Loki flicks his tongue over the cut on his lip, sealing it with stitches made of frost. When he and Thor meet again, he will be rid of all ties. He will be driven by one purpose, will become the perfect monster. Loki will raze the Earth, and Thor will never understand.  Loki will give him rage, and laugh as Thor falters, and falls.
