Italian silk. Suit fabric woven so finely that the midnight blue and green only give an impression of colour in certain light. Jacket lining and tie a pattern of stylized trees – the trees discernible only an inch from the fabric.  The 12th century manuscript the trees were taken from resides under glass in his library. The cologne is his own design: vetivert, cypress, saffron, sea salt and a touch of something indecipherable. He can see the discomfort when the echo of the last element fills their noses.

Title: Dressing
Author: ciaranbochna
Fandom: Avengers
Rating: G

Characters: Loki, Thor
Warnings: None

“Why do you spend so much time with Yggdrasil? You could be hunting with me!”

“I hate hunting, Thor. Take this with you. My trinket may be of use.”

Loki offers Thor a silver coin, covered in runes, and something Thor doesn’t recognize.

“What will it do?” Thor takes the coin, turning it hesitantly.

“If you slip it under your tongue, you will be able to call the creature you hunt to you in its own language.”

Thor laughs and flicks the coin in the air. He tosses it back to Loki.

“Brother, you take the sport from the game. I leave you to your ‘studies.’” Thor grasps Loki’s shoulder and walks away.

Loki leans against the pillar in the hall. He knows how the hunt will end today. Thor will return without his prize. Loki rolls the coin along the backs of his knuckles; it vanishes when it reaches his little finger.

“Studies’. If you listened to the world, to Yggdrasil, it would tell you much. But it only speaks to me.” Loki’s mouth twists.

“My stories are too quiet for you, so I shall keep them hidden.”

Oh super cool! I am at some point in the future going to have to watch Hannibal (though not soon I suspect, given the state of things)

As ever, I love your interpretation of Loki; entwined with Fate and full of subtleties.

Hannibal is one of the most brilliant shows currently on cable. The incredible violence aside, the cinematography, casting/acting, and writing (Brian Fuller of Dead Like Me) is just...gods. Once you get there, I figure you will enjoy it;)

Oh, thank you, I am pleased you think so:)

Veteran fan of the Harris novels that I am (and mostly fond of the films), I only just discovered there's a TV series yesterday. Have watched clips and I'm not sure I feel about it. Still: that drabble is lovely <3

I share your love of the novels (and some of the films). I wasn't sure about the series myself, but so far it has been quite good.

Thank you! I am chuffed that you think so:)
